Laura Mulvey is a British feminist film theorist (born 15 August 1941). She was educated at St Hilda's College, Oxford. She is currently professor of Film and Media Studies at University of London. She worked at the British Film Institute for many years before taking up her current position. She is arguably most well known for her 'Male Gaze' theory, a concept that she proposed in 1975 in a piece of her work, an essay titled 'Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema' to be exact.
